We started early at the morning, we usually start early morning to avoid traffics on the road. We travelled by our own cars we love to drive yourself. Because it is comfortable as we could stop anywhere as we wish. We saw too many hotels and dhabas on the way.
Very good experience had to travel long and had good food in many places on the way to Madurai. Travel through NH7 was good and safety. Tool booth was very hectic in NH7 because there is no proper way to go through. People are very good as we met on way.
Great motoring experience from Banglore to Madurai, it took almost 7 hrs with a couple of coffee breaks on the way. The overall experience is good. But despite paying road tax, sales tax and service tax etc, its painful for one has to pay the tolls at may locations. Madurai is city of temples and a centre place to visit three places, Trichy, Ramanad and Rameswaram. It has the nearest Airport to go to Kodaikanal Hill Station.
Recently I drove to Madurai and Rameshwarm on Honda Mobilio (4 Adult, 3 kid). We started from Bangalore at 5.30 and reached Madurai at 12.30 with two break. Route is wonderful. After Darshan of Meenakshi Temple, we started for Rameshwaram. The road is good but 2 lane only so it took almost 4 hrs ( we were tired also).
Great Tamil Nadu roads with huge tolls collected, 6 lane roads. Food available on the way with many restaurants available on the way. Good food is also available. Be careful if its a peak season like weekend holidays as it would be crowded. Few km in between is ghat section. Night travel would be difficult as many lorries are driving around.
