About Anantapur Tourism
Located in the westernmost part of the state, Anantapur is the birth Place of Sri Satya Sai Baba and is the largest district in the state. It is also called Anantapuram and is famous for its silk trade. It is said that Anantapur got its name from 'Anantasagaram'
which means an endless ocean, so named after a huge tank in the
vicinity. This district is also known for its many pilgrimage centers,
forts and handicrafts.

The main attraction here is a visit to Puttaparthi,
the home of Sri Satya Sai Baba, believed to be the reincarnation of
Shirdi Sai Baba. The place gets millions of devotees coming in every
year.
