| About Banswara Tourism |
Banswara in south Rajasthan is home to the tribal communities of Bhils, Meenas, Damor, Charpotas, Ninamas, etc. Legend says that the region was named after bamboo (bans) which grew in abundance here. Ruled by the Maharawals, the district is surrounded by fertile plains and the Aravalli ranges. The Mahi River is the main source of water here. The thick forests on the hills are rich with teak, mango, khajur and mahua trees. The entire area is filled with wildlife and is a treat for bird lovers. Banaswara has a rich folk culture, and the fairs and festivals celebrated here are a major draw for tourists Sightseeing Highlights
The presence of the eleven-and-a-half Swayambhoo Shivlings here has earned Banaswara the name of ?Lodhikashi? or Little Kashi.Mahi Dam |
