About Barmer Tourism
Barmer is the desert district
of Rajasthan.
It traces its origins to Bhada Rao (Bar Rao) the 13th century ruler who founded the
city. It is
a land of tribal folk who live in very harsh and difficult circumstances, and
yet are extremely warm-hearted and welcoming. Barmers Bhopas, the priest singers
who sing about deities
and legendary warriors, and Muslim drummers or dholis, are a treat to hear. The folk art
and handicrafts of the region are extremely famous, and are now exported all
over the world. A trip to Barmer comes alive if one goes during any of the innumerable
festivals and fairs. The Mallinath
