| About Betla Tourism |
Betla is a
national park situated in the Palamau district of Bihar. It is one of the
earliest established national parks or sanctuaries in the country and was later
upgraded to a tiger reserve under Project Tiger in 1974. It is located 26 km
from Daltonganj and 180 km from Ranchi.
This contiguous stretch of 226 sq. km. of forest area is partially called the Betla National Park, while some portions
come under the neighbouring Palamau National Park.
It is covered with jungles of Sal, bamboo and other deciduous trees. Apart from
tigers, the sanctuary has a variety of animals such as elephants, deer,
leopard, sloth bear, nilgai, and different species of monkeys. Betla is known
to have 180 types of medicinal plants and a variety of unique flora found only
in this area. The vast expanses of the forest reserves has the river Koel and
Burha flowing through it while many waterfalls and hot water springs add |
