About Bhadrachalam Tourism
Bhadrachalam, which is situated on the banks of the GodavariRiver, is 161 km from Rajahmundry and 201 km from Vijayawada. It is considered to be one of the holiest shrines in South India.
According to legends, a saint called Bhadra, son of Meru, did penance
here to seek Rama?s blessings. Sri Rama appeared before him and named
him 'Bhadrachalam' or ?Bhadradri? - thus this place was named. There are many other legends associated with lord Rama and the Ramayana that are found here.
