Sightseeing:
Beach hopping is the main activity from Calangute. Visit the neighbouring Baga and Anjuna beaches and venture further to some quiet, secluded beaches such as Vagator and Candolim to appreciate the natural beauty.
The 400-year-old Church of St. Alex is a magnificent work of architecture with its dome and towers.
Visit the Kerkar Art Complex, which hosts art and crafts exhibitions. If you happen to be there on a Thursday or Friday, you can attend an Indian classical dance and music concert.
The Saturday Bazaar is famous, with wares ranging from textiles, pottery, souvenirs, foodstuff, etc. There is a Tibetan market at Calangute that you can visit too. Or you could always head to the Wednesday Market at Anjuna.
Take a boat trip down the Mandovi or Zuari rivers, where you could spot crocodiles and dolphins if you are lucky.
Other activities:
Calangute is famous for its water sports like water scooters, para-sailing and banana boats.
Also enjoy the delicious seafood feast all along the beach and the local wines, feni and beer.
In the evenings hit the bars, and for some wild nightlife check-out the beaches of Anjuna and Baga.

Between the beaches of Baga and Candolim lies the 4 mile long Queen of Beaches, Calangute.
This
idyllic fishing village with its beautiful coconut tree lined, pristine
beach was said to have been discovered in the 1960's by the hippies. It
paved the way for the many European tourists who come flocking to this
place. Now the foreigners have moved further away, and the Indian
tourists have taken over Calangute, making it by far the most visited
beach in Goa.
The most happening beach of Goa,
you will find everything here great food, shopping, entertainment and a
wide choice of accommodation. But it's definitely the choice of the
extrovert, and not for those seeking solitude. |
