There is a famous temple, dedicated to Goddess Kali, 6 km from Hunterganj, at Kolhua Hill across the river Lilangen. You can also get a great view of the city from this point known as 'Akash Lochan'.
Sitala Swami temple was built by the Jain community to celebrate the birth of the tenth Trithankar; it is now revered by the Hindus as a place of pilgrimage. The Kauleshwari Devi temple attracts thousands of devotees on Ram Navmi and Basant Panchami every year. A beautiful rock sculpture of a group of ten Jain Trithankars belonging to the Digambari sect, adorns the temple.
Ramble through the dilapidated ruins of the old Kunda fort and Kunda palace. Close by is the popular Kunda Cave, which is another major attraction. A shallow running stream flows nearby making it a perfect picnic spot.
Other activities
About 35 km from Chatra is Bhaduli (Bhadrakali), on the banks of the Mahane River. There is a water reservoir amidst the lush green surroundings of the deep forest. During the Bishu festival many hundreds come here to bathe at the tank.
Another place to visit is Tamasin, 25 km from Chatra, where there is a huge water reservoir and an ancient temple of Goddess Bhagwati. Amidst the thick woods, a breathtaking waterfall adds to the charm of the place. Other waterfalls of interest in and around Chatra are at Bichkiliya, Duari, Khaya Banaroo Keridah and Maloodah.

Chatra date back to Ashokan times. Over the centuries, it has remained
an important city under different dynasties. Since ancient times,
Chatra has been a centre of religious activities, especially the growth
of the 'Shakti cult' in the heart of the Itkhori and Hunterganj areas.
It shares its boundaries with Gaya,
Hazaribagh and Palamau district. A majority of the district is covered
by forests and it has few and scattered settlements. The area is
interspersed with breathtaking natural views, deep ravines and dense
forests where nature has been preserved in its original state. The
