| Sightseeing:
If you can pull yourself away from the sunbathing and swimming, there are some places worth visiting while here. The statue of 'Menino Jesus' (baby Jesus) is a popular attraction at the Church of Our Lady of Mercy. The original statue belonging to the early 17th century, was replaced by a new one built by the citizens of Colva, and is believed to have extraordinary healing powers, thus attracting people from all over. If you want to witness such miracles of faith, visit this church on the second Monday of October, during the Fama festival, when it is open to the public.
Another interesting activity, if you are game, is the famous bullfight at Benaulim. Not quite Barcelona style, but our very own desi version. It takes place between October and May, in the midst of rice fields dancing to the tune of Konkani music and promises some unconventional fun.
If you want to head out further, you could go to to Margao city or even to Panjim, the capital of Goa, 39 km away. Neighbouring beaches worth visiting are Calangute and Benaulim. For rave lovers, hit Anjuna beach.
Other activities:
You could indulge in varied water sports on this beach. If you are the 'Need for Speed' variety try jet skiing along the Goan coastline and if that's not enough, hop on for a speedboat ride.
After you have built yourself an appetite, dive into the array of seafood available all along the beach. Don't forget to try the Goan prawn curry.
