There is a group of 31 Jain temples located inside the Karnali Fort with a view of the River Betwa. All the temples have intricate sculptures depicting the life of Jain Tirthankars and scenes of Jain mythology.
The beautiful Deogarh Palace is located on a lake and has the ancient Gokalgarh fort in the background.
The unique sculpted Naulakha Mandir, dedicated to Radha-Krishna is on the outskirts of the Deoghar. You can also visit Tapovan, just 8 km from Deoghar where Balanand Brahmachari is known to have meditated.
The Temple of Jain Tirthankar Shantinath is a unique temple while other temples are Nar-Narayan, Vishnu and Gajendra Moksha.
Just 8 km from Deoghar is Harila Joria which has a famous Shiva Temple.
Other activities
Hiking and trekking can be enjoyed in the hills surrounding Deoghar. Satsang Ashram is another great place to visit for followers of Thakur Anukulachandra. The premise has a zoo, museum and a Sarva Dharma Mandir.
About 16 km from Deoghar, is Trikut, which is the source of the River Mayuraksh. You can even trek up to the source.

and is an important Hindu pilgrimage centre. The picturesque town is
surrounded on the northern side by the Data Jungle and the wooded hills
of Nandan Pahar; while on the eastern side lies the Trikutaparvata, a
range of low lying hills. Situated on the banks of the River Betwa, at
the end of the Lalitpur hill range, the town has a historic past which
is immersed in legends. The Vaidyanath Shiv temple is the major
attraction in Deoghar and is considered to be one of the Siddha Peeth
which has been bequeathed with a '?Kamna Lingam', one of the twelve Jyothilingams of India. In the month of Shravan, thousands of devotees come to Deoghar to offer holy water in the Vaidyanath Shiv temple. |
