About Deoghar Tourism
Deoghar or Abode of Gods is also known as Vaidyanath Dham.
It is located in the
Deogarh district of Jharkhand and is an important Hindu pilgrimage centre. The
picturesque town is surrounded on the northern side by the Data Jungle and the
wooded hills of Nandan Pahar; while on the eastern side lies the
Trikutaparvata, a range of low lying hills. Situated on the banks of the River
Betwa, at the end of the Lalitpur hill range, the town has a historic past
which is immersed in legends. The Vaidyanath Shiv temple is the major
attraction in Deoghar and is considered to be one of the Siddha Peeth which has
been bequeathed with a ?Kamna Lingam?, one of the twelve Jyothilingams of India. In the month of Shravan,
thousands of devotees come to Deoghar to offer holy water in the Vaidyanath
Shiv temple.
