Sight Seeing Highlights
The Chambal Garden
is a spectacularly lovely landscaped garden around the Amar Niwas and it is a
splendid place to have picnics.
The Maharao Madho Singh Museum
is also within the Kota-Chambal area, within the Guna District. Located within
the old palace, this is a museum that holds magnificent sculptures, an
exquisite collection of miniature Rajput paintings, and a good number of
personal belongings of many Kota
rulers, armoury and Frescoes.
The Kota-Chambal area also is the
home of the breath taking Brijvilas
Palace by the banks
of Kishore Sagar. Inside the palace is the Government Museum,
which has on display several types of rare coins and historically noteworthy
manuscripts.
Other Activities
Take the afternoon to explore the
recently discovered Guna Caves within the hills on the outskirts of Guna City.
There are numerous types of
adventurous and outdoor water activities, along with nature hikes and the lush
abundance of flora and fauna.

The township
of Guna is situated on the banks of Parbati River. It is the headquarters of
the Guna district, within the state of Madhya Pradesh. The district boundary is
bordered by the river Parbati which also touches the Rajgarh district, Kota district and the
Jhalawarh district in Rajasthan. Along the North side are the towns of Kota, Shivpuri, Bhopal,
while Rajgarh and Vidisha are cities located upon the Southern side.
Originally founded by Chand
Pradyota Mahesena, the Guna region is historically connected to the ancient Kingdom of Avanti. After being conquered in
the historical 18th Century, the area of Guna was then made a part
of the Gwalior Kingdom. After the Indian
Independence, the Isagarh District then administered the area of Guna and was
made a part of the Madhya Bharat State
in 1948, and was moved on as a part of the Madhya Pradesh
State. With diverse
historical ties and ancient beginnings, the Guna is the entrance town for
Chambal and Malwa areas.
Guna is also known for the finely
woven Chanderi saris that were hand made in the tehsil of Chanderi, a part of
the Guna district area.
The natural terrain, beautiful
location combined with a rich history, the city and district of Guna presents
the visitor with verdant forest tracks, open land spaces which are the natural
habitat of a variety of animal and avian species.
Natural scenic beauty, multitude of
budget accommodations and the quaint charm of a small town with modern
