Hazaribagh National Park attracts the maximum tourists with its abundant flora and fauna found in the dense forests. You can see tigers, deer, sloth bear, wild cats, civet cats, reptiles and smaller animals.
Hazaribagh Lake is a perfect spot for picnics and water sports. Houlton Park is a beautiful landscaped garden with three small lakes adding to its charm.
You can visit the Tilaiya Dam on the Barakar River and Konar Dam, about 54 km from Hazaribagh. There are some adventurous trekking routes in this area.
Near Silwar, on top of the Tower Hill, the dilapidated ruins of a watch tower can be explored. It was meant to protect the military road centuries ago. The famous hot water spring, Suraj Kund is located 72 km from Hazaribagh. The spring has very hot water with curative powers for skin diseases. Other Activities Just 40 km from Hazaribagh is the recently discovered world's oldest cave painting in Isco. Rajrappa Falls, 89 km from Hazaribagh is a scenic location amidst lush green forest. To see the mining of mica, visit Koderma, about 60 km from Hazaribagh. It produces 50% of the worlds mica. Trekking and hiking can be enjoyed in the hills and forests of Hazaribagh.

hill station nestled in the Chhotanagpur Plateau, at a height of 2,019
feet. It is the divisional headquarters of the North Chhotanagpur division and is also known as the 'City of Thousand Gardens'. This name has its origins from the groves or baghs that
were the camping grounds for travellers since the 1700s. The scenic
beauty, excellent climate and thickly forested area have made this town
a well known health resort. The dense forest in the surrounding region
has been converted into the Hazaribagh National Park
where a variety of animals and different species of flora are conserved
in their natural habitat. The entire area is covered with Sal trees
with the Damodar River flowing through it, and a backdrop of hills lending a serene atmosphere to the place. |
