About Jaipur Tourism

Jaipur or the "Pink City' as it is popularly called makes up one of the three points in the Golden Triangle of Indian tourism, the other two being Delhi and Agra. It is also the gateway to Rajasthan - and a visit to the city gives you a glimpse of the entire Rajasthan experience: forts, palaces, pink sandstone monuments, museums and colourful shopping. Built in 1727 AD by the famous astronomer king, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, Jaipur is a blend of princely heritage, feudal traditions and genuine Rajasthani hospitality. It took almost six years to complete the city of Jaipur, which was interestingly, the country's first modern city to be designed in a grid form over two centuries ago. The city is surrounded by a crenellated wall with seven gates meant for protection against the invading enemies. At the beginning of the city stands the imposing Amer Fort, as if guarding

So many things to see, but.........

Overview of the destination
In short, Jaipur is filled with History and memories of a glorious past. So much so that its people have forgotten their present. My impressionFood, sight-seeing and shopping
My favourite eating joint was the Hotel in the Jaigarh fort. Surprisingly, every person that I spoke to informed me that the place was damnActivities & things to do
Jaipur has plenty to see and do. In addition to the usual Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, City Palace, Amer Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Nahargarh Fort -Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
Jaipur is an extremely tourist friendly place for foreigners, not so for Indians. So be mentally prepared. Credit Card machines do not work if you

 How to reach Chokhi Dhani
Hi, Can someone tell me how to reach Chokhi Dhani from Jaipur Railway Station. I will be reaching Jaipur from jaisalmer. Do I have to get at Jaipur proper or can I disembark at one the suburbs. How much does it cost by both cab and auto Is the road leading to Chokhi Dhani safe during the nigth. Any idea as to how much the cab charges on a daily basis in September Thanks!!! Jaydutt
 Hotel with veg-only restaurant
I'm planning to visit Jaipur by around Sep 1st week, with my family. I'm particular about staying in a hotel where only vegetarian food is served. Any suggestions for a decent, cheap, yet clean place?
