| About Jaldapara Tourism |
Jaldapara Wild Life Sanctuary is a famous wildlife spot of West Bengal and is in Alipurduar sub-Division of
Jalpaiguri District. It can be easily accessed from Siliguri which is about 124
km away. This is one of India?s
oldest sanctuaries, established in pre-Independence days of 1941. The River Toorsa
runs through the sanctuary, which is nestled in the foothills in the region
popularly known as the Dooars. The vegetation is mainly tall elephant grasses,
interspersed with trees and bamboo clumps. The most famous animal is the
one-horned rhinocerous, an animal threatened with extinction. Other wild life
to be seen are tigers, wild elephants, sambhar, barking deer, spotted deer, hog
deer, wild boar, bison and a number of birds. Elephant safaris can be enjoyed
at the sanctuary and are the best way to explore the habitat and see wild

| Overview of the destinationWild animals can be seen & photographed from the room of the Hollong forest bunglow. Food, sight-seeing and shopping One must avail the elephant ride in the early morning to spot the wild animals. Activities & things to do there are many places near by to visit also such as Gorumara, Totopara & Bhutan also. Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. One can reach Hollong from hiring vehicle from Silliguri(140 km) or from Mudarihat. |
