| About Jamshedpur Tourism |
Jamshedpur, the 'Steel City of India' is the country's first planned industrial township; set amidst scenic surroundings. The capital of the newly formed state of Jharkhand, Jamshedpur
is dominated by two rivers, Subarnarekha and Kharkai, flowing on either
side of the town. Also called Tata Nagar, the town owes its rapid
economic growth to the industrial giant, Tata Group. Jamshedpur
was earlier called Sakchi. It was in 1904, when Jamshedji Tata decided
to put up the country's first steel plant here, and this erstwhile city
of Bihar honoured its founder by naming it Jamshedpur.
The city grew rapidly and today it's a modern township with many
educational institutes and all the modern facilities of urban life.

| Overview of the destinationClean City Green City Steel City! You could see this slogan written all around Jamshedpur through the 90s. I used to live in an area Food, sight-seeing and shopping Some things have changed, like my favourite Ice-cream parlour ? Iceberg - has changed into a Cafe Coffee Day (opposite KMPM Inter college, Bistupur). Yet Activities & things to do One of the favourite destinations for a picnic is Dimna Lake - a large artificial reservoir made in the 1940s that is nestled among the Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. With more time on hand you might consider taking on the Dalma hill range itself. Dalma is a Forest Reserve and a trip to it |
