About Jamshedpur Tourism
Jamshedpur, the 'SteelCity of India' is the country's first planned industrial township; set amidst scenic surroundings. The capital of the newly formed state of Jharkhand, Jamshedpur
is dominated by two rivers, Subarnarekha and Kharkai, flowing on either
side of the town. Also called Tata Nagar, the town owes its rapid
economic growth to the industrial giant, Tata Group. Jamshedpur
was earlier called Sakchi. It was in 1904, when Jamshedji Tata decided
to put up the country's first steel plant here, and this erstwhile city
of Bihar honoured its founder by naming it Jamshedpur.
The city grew rapidly and today it's a modern township with many
educational institutes and all the modern facilities of urban life.
