Sightseeing Highlights:
Besides exploring the hill station and the many view points like Hanuman and Sunset points, one can also see the majestic Dadara Kopra Falls.
A part of the tribal heritage tour is the Jai Vilas palace, home of the tribal kings and the Bhupatgad, a local fort. One can also stop at Shirpamal, where Shivaji camped on his way to Surat.
Other Activities:
Besides trekking in the hills, one can appreciate and buy the Warli paintings. These paintings were traditionally made of rice paste and were used to decorate village huts.
The theme was mostly village life. Today, they are also painted on paper and canvas and can be bought as souvenirs. Tourists can visit Lonavla and Khandala for picnics and trekking. Jawhar is a hill station located at an altitude of 518m. It is about 80 kms from Nasik and 180 kms away from Mumbai.
Situated in the Thane district, Jawhar is known for its picturesque
setting and a vibrant cultural heritage. It is also known as the Mahabaleshwar of Thane district. It is one of the very few tribal kingdoms in Maharashtra and is famous for its vibrant Warli paintings that are a characteristic landmark of this place.
