Located about 16 km from Kozhikode town, Kappad beach is one of the famous beaches of Kerala,
due its historical background and charming beauty. It is locally known
as Kappakadavu and is situated at a walking distance from the Korapuzha River.
Its historical importance stems from the fact that this was the beach
that Vasco de Gama, the Portuguese explorer landed on, which in many
ways changed the course of Indian history. There is a small plaque
commemorating this fact, on the beach.
