| Sightseeing Highlights
The entire area has been specially planned from a strong tourism point of view. Among the many must-see places is the River viewpoint or the Nehru Foundation Stone Sthal, the original foundation stone that offers a beautiful view of river Narmada.
You also have the chance to pay your respects at the Shoolpaneshwar Mahadev Temple, an ancient temple which was submerged and has been rebuilt. The Aditeshwar Mahadev Temple is another old Shiva temple here.
Most tourists who come here visit the many Dam viewpoints, which afford breathtaking views of the Narmada dam. A trip here can include visits to the numerous lakes such as the Vadgam lake, Khalvani lake and Panchmili lake among others.
Other Activities
The place also offers many opportunities for trekking, jungle walks, boating and other adventure sports to the tourists.
Kevadia-Narmada is the area on the downstream side of the Narmada
dam consisting of light deciduous forest with many lakes, hills,
streams and rivulets. It is part of an ambitious government tourism
project to develop the Narmada dam area, with a golf course, hotels and
water parks, all set on 1,400 hectares of land. There is a variety of
plant species and wild life here, making it an excellent location for
recreational and leisure activities. There are plans to develop eco
friendly tourist facilities here. |
