| Sightseeing Highlights:
Amrutanjan Point at the Khandala Ghat offers great views, as also Duke's Nose (named after Duke of Wellington),which is a sharp cliff from where you get sweeping views of the region. Ryewood Park and Shivaji Park are landscaped gardens frequented by families and couples.
Bushy Dam is worth a visit during the monsoons when the overflowing waters create a large waterfall over the lake. At other times of the year, it's a popular picnic spot. Tugauli Lake and Lonavala Lake are some of the other spots to picnic and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Rajmachi Park offers breathtaking vistas, including a glimpse of the towers of Rajmachi Fort from the eastern end.
Karla and Bhaja Caves, located 11 Km from the town, are a must visit. These rock-cut cave temples date back to 2nd century BC and exhibit one of the oldest examples of Buddhist rock cut temples, belonging to the Hinayana sect.
Other Activities:
The hilly terrain of Khandala and nearby Lonavala offers endless possibilities for trekking and hiking. The Sahyadri hills offer a number of trekking trails, while Duke's Nose peak has good spots for rock climbing. Also visit the town of Kamshet where you have paragliding opportunities.
Buy the famous Chikki, a sweet preparation made of jaggery, peanuts and sesame seeds, which is synonymous with this region.
