| About Kottayam Tourism |
A combination of mountains, lakes, plantations and paddy fields, Kottayam epitomizes Kerala's
scenic beauty. The small city is also the headquarters of the district
by the same name, which is often called the 'land of letters, latex and
lakes'. It has the highest literacy rate in India and is the intellectual hub of Kerala; it is a rubber centre with extensive rubber plantations, and the region is replete with lakes. Situated 76 Km from Kochi, Kottayam was once a part of the erstwhile Central Travencore. Besides being an important trade centre for rubber and coffee, the city is also known for its publishing industry.

Relax and Rejuvenate
| Overview of the destinationKottayam is a small village on Kerala backwaters. It is 3 hours by car from Cochin airport. Food, sight-seeing and shopping We really loved the restaurant at Waterscape KTDC resort. The food is good and price reasonable. Activities & things to do There is nothing else to do here unless you take boat cruises. While on cruises, don't miss the beautiful sunset. The other indulgence could be Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. Don't bother to waste time on bird sanctuary, it is over hyped. If you do, get down from the boat and take a walk. |
