About Kovalam Tourism

Once a fishing village and a favourite hippy haunt, Kovalam has transformed itself into a top beach desination of Kerala. It is 16 Km from Trivandrum and draws thousands of tourists from all over India and the world. Kovalam means a grove of coconut trees and is a big draw for beach lovers, as it offers a variety water sports opportunities, great seafood, and Ayurvedic massages and treatments.

Sightseeing Highlights:

The crescent-shaped Kovalam Beach is divided into three parts. The southern-most beach, Lighthouse Beach, is by far the most popular one. The middle beach, adjacent to it, is called the Hawa Beach,

Kovalam - get a feel of Goa in Kerala

Overview of the destination
At the outset, my comments are restricted to the smaller beach frequented by locals; hence it is far from comprehensive. This particular stretch on theFood, sight-seeing and shopping
The beach is a decent evening getaway if you shacked up in Trivandrum, though it doesn't really give you a feel of being on aActivities & things to do
In addition to the customary dip in the sea, there are many fishermen offering various types of boat rides into the sea. Of the lot,Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
Kovalam is just a half hour drive from the city centre and accessibility isn't an issue at all. Though I didn't make the trip, apparently

I am planning to stay with my family in sagara beach resort(booking through travel port) on june. Any pointers to this hotel will be really helpfull. how is the location of the hotel(sea facing???)...Cleanliness....Food and safety....Give some views on this hotel
Hi, I'll be visiting trivandrum between 12th & 14th April with my family. I'm planning to stay in Ponmudi on 12th. And I want to stay in a beach resort on 13th & 14th. I've short listed the 3 resorts: 1) Estuary Island 2) Travancore Heritage 3) Isola De Coco My preference would be - 1) Access to beach 2) Heritage ambience 3) Swimming pool 3) Room with a view ;) Suggestions please... Regards, Rave.
Hi, We are planning for a trip to a beach resort and we have narrowed down on Kovalam in early part of April 7-20. I have few questions on this: 1. Is this time an ok time to visit Kovalam? I know it will be very hot and humid but I just need to know if its going to be unbearable. We are basically from Bangalore. 2. We are looking at couple of properties in Kovalam-- Travancore Heritage in Kovalam and Taj Green cove in Kovalam. Which is better of the two?? 3. We are looking for good beaches basically to frolick (not swim since we have a 6 year old son with us), walk and relax. I am sure there should be more than one beach in Kovalam area which would fit this description. Can anyone who has visited and from this area, give us some good places to go? 4. The last important question.. we are also considering the Taj property in Varkala beach. Want to know if its better to stay in Varkala and visit Kovalam one of the days or stay in Kovalam and visit Varkala? From the pictures I see, it looks like Varkala is more of a rocky beach not sandy?? is that true. Request the travel wizards to respond .... Thanks Raji
