Lahual and Spiti, are twin valleys situated on the north eastern extremity of Himachal Pradesh, bordering Tibet. They comprise the largest district of the state. Quite in contrast to the green slopes and pine forests of other valleys of Himachal, the valleys are cut off from the rest of the country by the RohtangPass. Lahaul and Spiti in turn are separated by the KunzumPass.
Rugged
mountains and white snow peaks add to Lahaul's barren yet spellbinding
beauty. Lying at an altitude of 2,745 m, Lahual offers endless treks
for adventure enthusiasts, earning it the reputation of being the
ultimate trekking destination. The valley is also famous for its
Buddhist monasteries.
