| About Lonavala Tourism |
Set in the lush green hills of the Sahyadris, Lonavala is at an altitude of 625 m and is the most popular weekend destination from Mumbai and Pune.
Known as the Jewel of the Sahyadri it offers the tourist pristine woods
and valleys, gushing waterfalls, historic caves, and scenic vistas. The
surroundings hills were the stronghold of the Maratha rulers, who
practised guerrilla warfare from here, against the Moghuls and later
the British. Lonavala
now houses holiday homes of celebrities and industrialists, as well as
a plethora of holiday resorts. Its other famous cousin town, Khandala lies just 5 Km away.

| Overview of the destinationwell it is the most comfortable journey from Bombay. It took me exactly 2 hours by road. What really got my attention was the central Food, sight-seeing and shopping one should visit the bushy dam in monsoons. a must eat would be the chocolate fudge which is to die for. greenery and close to Activities & things to do mornings you can go swimming in the water park. you can also play pool, gym, library etc.
evenings can be spent in the market and watching Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. its 2hour drive from bandra or dadar. you can also go by train from VT station but i would recommend the car as you can |  Pradeep, Bangalore | 7th July 2006
