Sightseeing Highlights:
Being in a coastal area, the beaches in Machilipatnam are a prime attraction and are long, broad and pristine. The main one is the ManginapudiBeach, a beachside fishing hamlet, located at a distance of 11 km from Machilipatnam. It is well known for its scenic beauty and also as a historic port city. Another unique feature of this beach is that it has black soil instead of sand and has a natural bay with shallow waters.
Close to this beach is the Panduranga Swamy temple at Chilakalapudi, which is a famous pilgrimage site and is a temple of Lord Vishnu. Further up the coast of Machilipatnam, there are also five temples dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Machilipatnam is a fishing port town located on the Bay of Bengal,
in the southeastern part of the state. It is also known as Masulipatnam

conquests, business and trade starting with the early Arab traders,
then the French, followed by the Dutch and the British.
