Sightseeing Highlights:
The main attraction of Malampuzha is the lush green garden near the Dam. A number of amusement centres have been built within the premises of the Malapuzha garden. Well laid out flowerbeds, pools, fountains, fresh water aquarium, and a childrens park with a toy train provide entertainment to visitors.
There is also a road train and a telescope tower in the garden providing a terrestrial view up to 40 miles. This garden also has a ropeway, a first of its kind in south India, which moves over the entire area, providing an aerial view.
Another tourist attraction in the garden is a rock garden designed by Nekchand of Chandigarh, on the same lines.
Other Activities:
Malampuzha Dam reservoir is ideal for boating and fishing. Rowboats, Pedal boats, water scooters and motorboats are available here.
One can also visit the 18th century Palakkad Fort and the Silent Valley National Park, which is one of the last remnants of tropical rain forests in India and is accessible only by foot.
Malampuzha is one of the important tourist places in Kerala, located in Palakkad district, just 12 km away from Palakkad town. It is named after the river which flows through it. Malampuzha is situated on the lower hills of the Western Ghats. Major tourist attractions here are Malampuzha Garden, Malampuzha dam, the snake park, telescopic tower, rock garden and passenger ropeway. |
