Located in the Nainital district of Uttaranchal, Mallital is a part of Nainital. Surrounding the famous lake of Nayana Tal, located at an altitude of 1940 mts, the popular hill station of Nainital is encompassed by as many as seven hills. Discovered by an English Traveler in the early 18^th century, Nainital is divided into two areas Tallital and Mallital - Tallital located at the lower end of the lake and Mallital at its upper end.   The two are connected by the North and South Malls, the main promenades around the lake where all the tourist activity is centred.
