The
tiny fishing hamlet of Mandrem is located in the Pernem takul in the Northern Goa district. Even with increasing tourist
activities, it has been able to retain the rustic tradition of stone carvers, green
caju plantations, natural cattle range areas and palm tree lined shoreline. The rural village atmosphere, slow paced
lifestyle and picturesque charm of this quaint fishing village surrounds the
Mandrem region.
Mandrem
is surrounded with the villages of Parxem, Arambol, Chapdem, and Morjim while the
beaches are breath taking and picturesque natural scenery. The connecting
beaches of Junas and Ashvem have a breath taking beauty, providing pleasant
corridor to the Arambol beach that has become popular with tourists.
The
white sandy beaches have carved beach routes leading to gravel lined beach and
rocky hills, perfect for picnics, seashore swimming, sunbathing and many other
pleasurable water sport activities.
Along
the Mandrem beach areas, there are a number of beach shacks serving tasty,
local Goanese cuisine. The backdrop of the golden light sand that is nestled up
against the sparkling waters is perfect for some of the most stunning sunset
views in Goa. From the hills to the flat lands
of Mandrem, there is much to do, but with relaxation being the foremost promise
and that is what allures the tourists here.
