Sri Mayuranathaswamitemple is one of the biggest
temples in the town, devoted to the goddess Anjal Nayaki. The Sri Ayyarappar temple is
one of the oldest temples here and houses inscriptions dating back to the
Kulothungha Chola period. On the banks of the KaveriRiver
is the SriVadhanyeshwarar temple, which is a popular tourist attraction.
Some other temples worth visiting are the Sri
Parimala Ranganathaswami and the Sri
Kasi Vishwanathaswami temples.

Festivals:
ThulaUtsavam
A month-long festival called the 'Thula Utsavam' is held
every year in the Aippasi month (between mid October and mid November). This is
a popular festival that draws devotees from all around the region.

Navagraha Temples
Navagraha means the Nine Realms according to the Hindu religion.
Around Mayilduthurai, there are nine different temples that represent the
different planets and can be visited in a day. This has become a popular
tourist circuit. The names of the
Navagraha temples are Suriyanar koil (Sun),
About 40 km away from the town is the former capital of the
Chola Kings. This place has considerable historical significance and houses
structures of great architectural quality from the Chola Period.
