The main attraction here is the historic harbour that is still a key area for maritime trade. A must-see is the Mormugao fort which was built to protect the harbour in 1624. This historic fort is about four centuries old and thus in a ruined condition. However, it still is popular with tourists. About 6 km from Mormugao is the Colva beach that is one of the most popular Goa beaches and offers a range of activities and facilities from dolphin watching to fishing and boat rides.
You can make a trip to Bogmalo beach and not only enjoy its attractions but also enjoy an adventurous walk up to Bogmalo through a tough terrain to see a scenic view of the coast from a height.

Located about 34 km from Panaji and 4 km from Vasco da Gama, Mormugao is an important cit in South Goa. It has an interesting past and is most famous for its beautiful harbour. Mormugao was the site that was first chosen to be the capital of the Portuguese Empire and played an important role in the fight between the Portuguese, the Deccan kingdoms and the Marathas. It was considered an important trading point for the British as well. The harbour of Marmagao is one of the most striking natural ports of India and a hub of maritime trade. Mormugao is known for its many colonial Portuguese buildings and beautiful beaches. It is also known as one of the best places to have authentic Goan seafood.
