Sightseeing Highlights:

Another favorite spot of tourists is called Sangam, which gets its name from the confluence of the Bogguru, Beeraperu and Penneru rivers. The Chola temple here has a 150 cm tall Nandi, which is intricately carved.

Nellore City is situated on the north bank of Pennar River and lies in the southern part of the State. It is at a distance of 173-km from Chennai and is the headquarters of the district. It gets its name from the word 'Nellu' meaning paddy and 'Ur' meaning town.
That is because paddy is the main cultivated crop here. Nellore was also known as Vikramasimhapuri. It is also an important commercial centre, and has places of historical importance like temples, harbours and forts; as well as enjoys the scenic beauty of hills, lakes and beaches. |
