| About Orang Tourism |
The Orang National Park
is situated near Darrang in Sonitpur district, on the north bank of the Brahmaputra. The nearest town is Tezpur at a distance of
32 km, while Guwahati is about 140 km away. The Park covers an area of 78.81
sq. km. and is often known as Mini Kaziranga. Like all the other national
parks of Assam, it has
extremely scenic surroundings, with dense forest, high grasslands, mountains in
the background and the mighty Brahmaputra on
the southern side. Being on the floodplains of the river, the bio-diversity is
extremely rich.Wildlife Highlights
Apart from the Indian one-horned rhinoceros,
which is the flagship animal of the national park, the other animals found here
are elephant, hog deer, wild boar sambar, barking deer, pangolin, hog deer,
civet cat, otters, and the occasional tiger.
