The most famous temple here is the DhandayudhapaniTemple
dedicated to the Lord Murugan. It is situated at about 1500 feet above sea
level and has stairs leading to the hilltop on which the temple lies. The Thiru
Avinankudi and Pada Vinayakar are shrines located around this temple. A temple
dedicated to the goddess Parvati called the Periyanayaki Amman is located in the town.The MariyammanTemple
and the PerumalTemple are located near the Periyanayaki
temple. The Mariyamman temple is given significance by devotees who visit it to
seek protection from illnesses.

Festivals:
Pankuni Uttiram
This ten day festival takes place every year in March or
April. A number of religious processions mark each day of the festival.
Other Festivals
Some important festivals here are the Panguni Uttram, Thai
Pusam, Kanda Sashti and the Vaikaci Vicākam festival.

Kodaikanal
The Hill station Kodaikanal is 60 km away from Palani.
This picturesque resort is a popular retreat in the Palani Hills, with a lake,
boating, horse riding and beautiful walks in the hills.
