Located in the Kolhapur district, Panhala is a scenic hill resort in the Sahayadri mountain range. It is about 22 km from Kolhapur and is at a height of 977 m. Panhala
has a rich historical heritage and has many old forts and buildings
that are symbolic of the Maratha Empire. It also has a strong scenic
appeal and is a popular hill station.
Sightseeing Highlights:
One of the most important attractions is the Ambarkhana fort, which was built by the Marathas and has an administrative section, the palace, the mint, and the granary.Another major attraction at Panhala is the Sajja Kothi that was built in 1008 AD. History & Hill station - 2-in-1
| Overview of the destinationNice little hill station, much different from popular hill stations. Not much commercialised, yet all the basic services are available. And above all, not crowded. Food, sight-seeing and shopping Places to see are Ambarkhana & Sajja Kothi - the remains of the historical fort which is well maintained. Teen Darwaja is also worth seeing. Activities & things to do See the fort, appreciate the construction that still stands after more than 700 years. Beautiful valley view from Sajja kothi and of course Sunset point.
