This place is also known for its many fairs and festivals. A classical dance festival is held at Pattadakal, usually at the end of January every year. The Virupaksha Temple Car Festival is held in Pattadakal in March every year, while the Mallikarjuna Temple Festival is held in March-April.
Virupaksha Temple is the main attraction and is known for its grace and delicate details.
There is the Mallikarjuna Temple, next to the Virupaksha Temple, which is almost identical in design.
The oldest of the temples in Pattadakal is the Sangamesvara Temple.
Some of the other temples here are the Galaganatha, Chandrashekara, Sangameshwara, Jambulinga, and Kadasiddheshwara temples.
Tourists can also visit the Papanatha temple, which has a different style and Vimanam temple which is decorated with scenes from the Ramayana.
Pattadakal has also a Jain temple of Rashtrakuta times. |
