| About Puttaparthi Tourism |
Puttaparthi
is the home and the headquarters of the acclaimed spiritual Guru, Sri
Satya Sai Baba. Surrounded by an arid landscape, the small town located
in Andhra Pradesh
is visited by millions of devotees who have enormous faith in his
blessings and powers. Born in 1926 as Satyanarayana Raju, Sri Satya Sai
Baba is believed to be the incarnation of a famous 20th century saint, Sai Baba from Shirdi in Maharashtra.
Prasanthi Nilayam or the Abode of Highest Peace is the ashram complex
where Sri Satya Sai Baba resides. Built in 1950, the ashram has several
guesthouses, dormitories, kitchens and dining halls. Over the years,
the area around the complex also got a facelift with the establishment
of schools, colleges and hospitals, turning a sleepy village into a
modern township.
