Built in 1670, the HumaTemple
is known to be built by the Chauhan king, Baliyar Singh. It is also known as
the ?Leaning temple
of Huma? as it tends to
lean to one side.
The Ushakothi Wildlife Sanctuary is
located 22 km from Sambalpur. Spread over 285 km. and is home to a number of
animals such as deer, leopards, tigers and a multitude of smaller animals.
One of the first dams to be
built after Independence, Hirakud Dam on the river Mahanadi,
is situated 15km away. It is the longest dam in the world. The waters
surrounding the dam are ideal for boating and water sports.
About 37 km away, a popular
picnic spot, Chiplima is famous for
its waterfall, Ghanteswar shrine and
has a livestock breeding farm run by the state government.
