Diwan Khana, where earlier rulers from Jind used
to hold darbars is now a beautiful small
museum for display of weapons and articles used during the princely times.
Marble Baradari of
Banasar Garden is
completely built from marble with four pillars like towers and 12 doors. It is
a famous picnic spot and houses a mini-zoo too. The rulers of Jind state used
to visit and spend their summers here.
Gurdwara 'Janam Asthan' at Cheema just 20 kms from Sangrur is
the birth place of Sant Baba Attar Singh. A large number of followers attend
the fair, which takes place in the holy month of Chet on the amavas (new moon) day.
Sita Sar located 20kms from Sangrur isan ancient water tank believed to be the tank where Mata Sita,
wife of Lord Rama, washed her hair when she was turned out of the house by Lord
Rama. A small Sheetla Mata mandir(temple) has been constructed on the south of
the tank.
Jama Masjid at Malerkotla is a muslim town
and has a very ancient building built during the princely state times which is
very well maintained till today.
Sheesh Mahal also known as ?Palace of Mirrors?
is made with the extensive use of glass and was the residential palace of the
Nawab of Malerkotla which is located just 22kms away from Sangrur. It was built
in the 1845 by the then Maharaja Narinder Singh. The palace was constructed in
a forest with gardens, terraces, fountains and an artificial lake.
