Sightseeing Highlights
Just 3 km. away from Shankarpur zone, there is the small beach
area of Mandar Mani, and for those that truly enjoy walking along
beaches, can take a relaxing 45 minute stroll to this quaint beach area for an
afternoon of enjoyment.
When visiting Shankarpur, a planed day-trip to Digha of
water activities, shopping for local handmade crafts and the eating of the
freshest seafood dishes available is a highlight for anyone to enjoy.
During the November and December months, the Rasajatra and
the Navanna harvest festival are celebrated. The Saraswati Puja
during the January and February months, and with spring, there is the Holi
festival, which is the festival of colours.

swimming in the pristine waters, along with pleasurable walks, and clear sky

For the very recently discovered paradise beach
of Shankarpur, in the Purba Medinipur
district of West Bengal, is considered the twin beach of Digha,
which is approximately 10 km east of the Shankarpur beach shoreline. Perfectly
located in the warm majestic southern tip coastline of West
Bengal, the weather is warm all year around, and there are gentle
waters, golden sandy beaches, along with casuarinas forest areas. It shares its
boundaries with the six main specific beach resort areas of Sagardwip,
Frazergunj, Bakkhali, Junput, Shankarpur and Digha.
The Shankarpur beach area is resoundingly private although
recently being openly welcoming to tourists. Not only do the sparkling waters
of Shankarpur have an abundance of varied marine life to enjoy, but casuarinas
plantations and a fishing harbor region are nestled within the Shankarpur
region.

This specific coastal zone area is pleasantly packed with
various wonders of coastal vegetations for true natural enjoyment. The
Shankarpur coastline is a stretch of beach that is long, and has an astounding
number of distinctly fascinating marine life of Red Crabs as one of the most
common beach features in this area.
