Sightseeing Highlights:
The main attraction in Sinquerim is the historic Fort Aguada, which was constructed in the early 17th century by the Portuguese as a defence against enemy attacks from the sea. Aguada means 'water' in Portuguese and the fort was named after a freshwater spring that lies within. The fort also features a small church honouring St. Lawrence and a four-storey lighthouse that was built in 1864; a section of the fort now houses the state prison. Just four km east from here is the Reis Magos Fort, which was built in 1551, and is home to one of Goa's oldest churches.
In addition to the forts, Sinquerim lies within easy distance of some of Goa's most lively and exciting beaches. These include Candolim, famous for its jet skiing facilities; Calangute, an immensely popular beach with many beach shacks, trinket shops and bars; Baga, a smaller beach known for its flea market and active nightlife; and Anjuna, the trendiest and most vibrant of North Goa's beaches, famous for its night-long parties, cafes and Wednesday market, which offers an astounding array of wares from across the country.
Other Activities:
The area in and around Sinquerim offers an enviable range of adventure and water sports activities to choose from, including swimming, jet skiing, parasailing, scuba diving, canoeing, water skiing and wind surfing. Boat trip facilities to see dolphins and river crocodiles are also easily available. Trips into the surrounding forested areas or to the beaches in South Goa can be organised as well.
Those seeking more hedonistic pleasures can opt for lazing on the white sandy shores under a beach umbrella or even a relaxing massage. Numerous shacks and cafes dotting the beach ensure an uninterrupted supply of finger-licking seafood and a choice of beverages. The presence of hawkers, flea markets and small shops on nearby beaches such as Calangute and Anjuna presents great shopping opportunities as well. Goods available here range from colourful beach wear, silver jewellery and trinkets to wood carvings, local handicrafts and more.

Situated in the northern part of Goa, just around 13 km from the capital city of Panaji, Sinquerim is one of the state's oldest and best-preserved beaches. The beach extends in an uninterrupted stretch from the famous Fort Aguada up to the Baga Beach in the north.
Quieter than the other beaches in the area and set against a backdrop of lush greenery and dense palm tree groves, Sinquerim is known for its tranquil beauty and is an idyllic setting for long romantic walks and leisurely swims. The beach is also perfectly located for exploring the many other beaches that can be found both to its north and south.
