Sightseeing Highlights 

Apart from enjoying the colorful Cattle fair, you can visit the unique Hariharnath temple which is the only temple in India to have a single statue of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. 

Just 22 km away is Patna city with its many sightseeing attractions. Don’t miss the GolGhar, a beehive shaped building constructed by the British in 1786 to serve as the state granary, after the famine of 1770. Visit the State Museum and explore the rich collection of sculptures, bronze and terracotta figurines belonging from the Maurya to the Gupta period.  The ashes of Buddha, and a 15 ft. fossilized tree are among the major attractions. 

Patna also houses the holiest of the Sikh shrines, Harmandirji - the birthplace of Guru Govind Singh. The shrine showcases the personal belongings of the Guru and sacred Sikh scriptures. 

Other Activities

You can buy some beautiful hand painted Madhubani paintings, cow bells, and other handicrafts in Sonepur, and enjoy the rustic delights of this small town.

Take a swim or a dip in the sacred river Ganga and enjoy boating on the waters.
