| About Surat Tourism |
The port city of Surat is situated on the left bank of the Tapi River.
It is known for its great survival instincts, having survived riots,
plague, floods, and bounced back to prosperity each time. Today it is
the hub for textile and diamond businesses. About 92 per cent of the
world's diamonds are cut and polished here. The district is surrounded
by Bharuch, Narmada, Navsari and Dang districts, and the Gulf of Cambay.
Sightseeing Highlights:
The ancient Dutch Gardens, the tombs in English, Dutch and Armenian cemeteries and Makaipul, the ancient port are places of interest. Other places for sightseeing include the 14th century Old Fort built by Muhammed Tughlak, now used for Municipal Offices, the Musafarkhana, and the hundred-year old Sardar Patel Museum. There are beaches at Ubhrat (42 km), Tithal (108km), Dumas (16 km) and Hajira (28 km) on the creek of the Arabian Sea. Vansada National Park is a place for wildlife lovers and bird-watchers. The Water Fun Park on Hazira Road (16 km) is a popular entertainment spot.

| Overview of the destinationSurat is a city of joy.
