A short distance north of Anjuna Beach, Vagator is dominated by the Chapora Fort that sits atop a hill in the backdrop of the beach. Anjuna has become jaded and over-crowded now. Thus Vagator comes as a breath of fresh air, with the red laterite rocks rising steeply from the sands. Swimming is safe in North Vagator beach, but gets tricky in the southern part (also known as Ozrant) due to these very rocks that affect the currents in the sea.This beach is a favourite with Israeli tourists, thus a small central portion of it is called Tel Aviv Beach. The seafront is dotted with shacks and juice bars, many serving Israeli and Continental food. The frequent rave parties and all night revelry, makes this place unsuitable for families or those who do not enjoy such activities.
