Sightseeing Highlights:
Vapi is surrounded by green forests dotted
with pretty hills, rivers and streams. Several gardens, lakes, riverside parks,
hills stations, beach stations, old forests, and religious sites are within a
day's outing. Many of these places have good stay and food facilities.
Daman's DevikaBeach
is one that must be visited not only for its own natural beauty but for Moti
Daman Fort, the Lighthouse and GandhiPark.
Daman being
a Portuguese colony till it was liberated in 1961, has a lot of Dutch influence
in its architecture. Silvasa, also about 14km from Vapi is a serene town
of lush green forests, large water bodies and has a few tourist attractions to
offer such as the Bal Udyan a children's park and mini zoo, and
a Tribal museum, where one can pick up some mementos to take home. The DudhiniLake
and Vasona Lion Safari are also must see as these beautiful beasts are
found roaming free only in the Gir region in India.
Unlike Daman's
konkan beaches, Dadra is more about its remnants of Portuguese culture
and its wildlife.
Situated on the banks of DamanGangaRiver
in the Valsad district of Gujarat is the city of Vapi. It lies between the UnionTerritories
of Daman on the west and Dadra and Nagar
Haveli on the east. The Arabian Sea falls on the west flank of the place at the
DamanGangaRiver
delta and adds to the tropical weather of this township.
Vapi is the nerve centre of Gujarat's
Golden Corridor a 400 km belt of industrial estates. It is one of the largest
industrial areas in terms of small scale industries, mainly chemical industry plants.
It is known mainly for the production of pesticides, dyes, and paints. However
other major industries also include paper, packaging, pharmaceuticals,
plastics, rubber, textiles, wood, glass and food products.
