| SIGHT SEEING HIGHLIGHTS:
The spectacular waterfalls named Satoddi Falls is just 25 km from Yellapur, and set in lush green surroundings. It is made up of several small streams that flow through the rugged landscape of the Ganeshgudi range forest. These converge and fall for a distance of 15 m, later joining the backwaters of Kodasalli Dam.
Another place that should not be missed is Magod Falls, located 19 km from Yellapur in Magod village, where the Bedthi river falls over a steep cliff, forming a waterfall and a perfect picnic spot. A beautiful place in the area is Jenkalgudda, popular as the Sunset Point.
Other activities:
There are many trekking and hiking trails in the surrounding green forests. You could visit a beautiful village called Kalache, 30 km from Yellapur, and set amidst mountains. Yellapur is a small town in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. The whole area falls in the Western Ghats
or Sahyadri area that is thickly forested. The town falls on the main
highway on route from Ankola to Dharwad. Lush green teakwood forests
with a rich flora and fauna, rugged cliffs and numerous waterfalls have
made Yellapur, a traveler's delight. The main attractions that can be
visited from here are two spectacular waterfalls, Satoddi and Magod. This is the perfect destination for trekking and hiking with numerous trails in the surrounding green forests. |
