About Yuksam Tourism
Yuksam often known as the gateway to Ney-Pemathang or
mystical Shangri-La is situated just 35 km. from Pelling in the Western
district of Sikkim. Nestled at the base of Mt.Kanchendzonga amidst oak, birch and
rhododendron forests, it shares its borders with KanchendzongaNational Park which is the largest
sanctuary in Sikkim.
Steeped in rich historical and cultural diversity, Yuksam also means the
meeting place of three lamas.
According to legends, three lamas came from different
places and consecrated the Chogyala King in 1600s here.

Apart from the scenic beauty, Yuksam has a lot to offer. The
rich historic and cultural heritage is reflected in the beautiful Dubdi monastery whichis about an hour's walk from Yuksam
amidst verdant forest. As one of the oldest monastery in Sikkim, it is
also known as Hermit's Cell as the founder Lhatsun Namkha Jigme, who was a very
reclusive monk.
