"A weekend at Ajmer and Pushak"

Ajmer Experience: Both Ajmer and Pushkar are the holy places situated in Rajasthan. It is said that if you visit in Ajmer Darga with a wish, you will never be returned empty handed.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Apart from Darga in Ajmer, the Jain temple and Sai Mandir is worth visiting. You can chose from a variety foods from North Indian veg or non-veg section, South Indian, Continental section too.
Activities & things to do: There are very little things to do at Ajmer, however, you will have plenty of options available in Pushkar if you chose to stay in a resort. You can visit the desert zone as well and avail spa facilities in quite a numbers of resort/hotels.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Ajmer is overnight train journey from Delhi. The best is you reach Ajmer early in the morning on Saturday by any overnight train, have Darga darshan and drive to Pushkar which is about a 45 minutes from Ajmer. Come down by Ajmer Shatabdi and reach Delhi by Sunday night.

"Excursion to Ajmer."

Ajmer Experience: While on a trip to Jaipur, Rajasthan, A day's outing to Pushkar and Ajmer is worth adding. Ajmer is a small town visited by pilgrims of all religion for The Dargah Sharif. The area near Dargah has very narrow lanes and is heavily crowded. One has to be careful of beggars and touts. The surroundings are dirty. Food stalls are horrible.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Drive past the lake a good road with beautiful surroundings to Pushkar.
Activities & things to do: Nothing worth mentioning. Visit to Dargah, is all that tourists come for.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Ajmer is a Rly. Stn. Pilgrims from Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad may prefer to travel by Trains, but the place is not worth for a more than a day's visit.

"Memorable Journey"

Ajmer Experience: Ajmer is well known place world over. The holy things and god own place is very well admired by every visitor. You won't find lot of new shopping malls of fancy items there, however, the place can be enjoyed and can take you to the old times. Beware of the pick-pockets there and plan your trip with the hotel staff you are staying in.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: This can be discussed with the hotel staff, although I find food to be oily everywhere in ajmer. You might find some good restaurants to enjoy food.
Activities & things to do: Visit Dargah for sure. Apart from it, you can visit other historical places if you interested and that won't take much time of yours.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: I traveled from Delhi to Ajmer in Duronto which I find to be best train ever. Try to book your seats well in Advance. At Ajmer you can find local transport at any point of time. Happy Journey.

"The nil and all experience"

Ajmer Experience: The reason to go to Ajmer is definitely lost. The monuments are not maintained and no one cares to even do so. They are smelly, filthy and really in a very pathetic state. Dont know how this brutal state of our cultural heritage has been overlooked by the government. Its actually sad.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: The food provided to us in the hotel was the best of the lot. There arent many good places to eat.
Activities & things to do: The Hotel again provided us with activities that kept us occupied, unlike the city. Swimming pool, movies and a bar is what made up for the other things that was missing.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: How to reach- gps, always does the trick. the roads were shockingly not disappointing at all. They were good, atleast while going to Ajmer but on our way back because of some digging there was a massive traffic jam for atleast 100km. Travel warnings - dont drink and drive. lol. Travel tips-always travel during the night. the traffics is less. Cheers!

"Beware of pick pockets.."

Ajmer Experience: At Dargaah it is better to stay outside and offer your prayers from outskirt of Dargah.Because inside you will forget for what you have come for,you have to look for your mobile purse etc. You will not feel peace in your heart. It is better to sit outside and offer prayer,Dargah is visible from outskirt also. Keep sitting in front of Dargaah with closed eyes, you will feel something which you have never felt before.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Paradise for non-vegetarians.
Activities & things to do: Just keep sitting in front of the singer's those sing sufiana Qawalis.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: From railway station its just 2 km walking distance. Its a very busy place so its better to go by feet instead of rickshaw or auto. One warning for each and every place beware of pick pockets & innocent looking beggars.

"Holy Ajmer Dargah"

Ajmer Experience: I belong to the state of Kerala in South India. It was my wish to visit the Holy Ajmer Dargah near Jaipur in the State of Rajasthan in North India again. So I started with my brother by Indigo Airlines on 12th July 2010 from Kochi to Jaipur. There the Co-ordinator of the Hotel Shikha arranged airport pick up and stayed at the hotel overnight. The next morning we started to Ajmer in the hotel's car which is about 135 kms away from Jaipur. Ajmer Dargah Holy Ajmer Dargah is one of the holiest places of worship in India. The tomb of the Saint Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chisthy is at Ajmer Dargah Sharif. The history says, apart from the common people, even the mighty kings of India, both Hindu and Muslim, have paid submissive homage to the great saint and have sought his mairaculous aid to solve their problems. I got a very best feeling in Ajmer Dargah which is unexplainable. It was very crowdy in Ajmer with pilgrims. You can reach Jaipur by air. From there you can proceed to Ajmer by train/car/bus which will take around 3 hours. In my experience I can say that the best hotel to stay in Jaipur is Hotel Shikha facing the Deer Park and behind the Secratariat as the staff are service oriented. At Ajmer, reasonably priced good hotels are available close to the Dargah. Please avoid mediators like autorickshaw drivers, rickshaw pullers etc- to find any hotel there. On return from Ajmer in the same car , we checked out from the hotel at Jaipur and returned to Kerala on 14th July 2010. As a whole I can say confidently that this was a very nice and comfortable trip, which gave us a mental peace after visiting Ajmer Dargah.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Reasonably good north Indian dishes were available. As a pilgrim centre, for shopping, most of the items available near the Dargah were pilgrim related items such as lockets, stones etc-. Actually good stones (gems) are available in Rajasthan to fix in rings, lockets etc-.
Activities & things to do: Main activity in Ajmer was worship as a pilgrim. On return we visited Jaipur known as the Pink City which is very beautiful. A lot to see and shop in Jaipur but I couldn't, due to lack of time.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Don't rely on the autorickshaw drivers, rickshaw pullers who will forcibly make arrangements for accommodation at Ajmer. You can approach directly to a lot of choices of hotels without a mediator to avoid cheating.
