Arambol Info

  • State: Goa
  • Famous for/as: Beach
  • Altitude: 183 m
  • District: North Goa
Arambol Village is situated in Pernem Taluk of North Goa District in the state of Goa. This village is located around 8.85 km from the main town of Pernem and is situated approximately 35.06 km from the state capital of Panaji. It is a secluded place which is a dwelling area of hundreds of fishermen.

It is one of the important beaches in Goa, surrounded by the Arambol village which is famous for its typical Goan culture and hospitality. Local inhabitants in Arambol include Hindus, Christians and few Muslims. The long stretch of golden sands interspersed with rocky cliffs make this beach beautiful.

Arambol has two main beaches, one is the Harmal Beach, which is situated in the northernmost region of Goa and the other is located at a walking distance from the village. The Harmal Beach is around 200 metres long and is suitable for gliding. Facilities are also available at this beach for training and tandem flights.

These beaches are peaceful and quite on all days, except Sundays, when several tourists and local picnickers gather here for beach activities. The palm trees, the golden stretch of sand and fresh water pools are some of the main highlights of the beaches in Arambol.

Just behind the second beach, there is a small freshwater lake, which extends from the bottom of the valley, leading to a dense forest. Arambol was once the most backward village in terms of economy, as farming and horticulture were the two main occupations practised here. However, at present, Arambol is a famous tourist destination which has many Punjabi restaurants and fast food joints, Kashmiri shops and Maharashtrian shopping stalls.

There are some famous budget hotels here which stay crowded in October. Arambol Beach is a popular place for paragliding and is home to dolphins. The best time to visit this destination is from October through June.

Arambol is one of the weekend getaway options for travelers living in Mapusa and Bogmalo.

"All time favourite!"

  • 7.0/7

A lot has been said about Arambol but I think no amount of words can describe the vibe of this lovely little beach. While most other popular beaches in Goa have become excessively crowded and expensive, Arambol still retains it's hippie charm. Every time you take a walk by the beach, you'll see musicians and performance artists rehearsing and I can just sit there and watch them in awe. The nightlife in Arambol is probably it's biggest attraction. Moonlit parties by the shiny sand and sound of the splashing waves is just what you need to let your hair down! Don't forget to try the hand tossed pan pizzas and English breakfast at Olive shack!

"Peaceful and a place of romance"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Mar 30, 2016
A less crowded Beach with long stretch of white sand. The beauty of the beach intensifies during the evening when the sun is about to set. This beach is only recommended to the people who want peace in Goa. The Arambol Beach in Goa is a contradictory to the beaches in North Goa. Away from all the hustle bustle life of Panji You can have a quality time with your loved ones on the sharks during evening a proper romantic setup

"Popular Destination!"

  • 7.0/7

Arambol is also known as Harmal, situated at the extreme stretch of Northern Goa just next to Mandrem, in Pernem, once it was a fishing village now developed as a popular destination and most awesome location of North Goa. It has now almost all facilities for the visitors from nice Resorts like Mama Goa, Ocean Bliss Beach, The Banyan Soul etc, Hotel Orion, Horizon Hotel etc and famous multi cuisine Restaurants like 21 Coconuts Inn, Welcome Inn, Felini, The Arambubble etc and beautiful huts for accommodation too. This is very famous among visitors for its unspoilt beach, which is very popular among the foreign tourists, and this is one of the safest beach and gateway to Kalacha Beach, Tiracol Fort, Querim Beach and one Vetal Temple which is said to be 200 years old and here Vetal is not Naked.

Arambol is very well connected by Road and State Transport Buses are running from Mapusa and Panji. It has many shopping complexes in close proximity and various Banks are registering their presence. The famous Surfing School Vaayu is close for the water sports lover and the another beautiful Mandrem Beach is very close. Siolim is another option and choice for Moderate shopping and food.

Its climate is just humid as it is a coastal village so summer casual are just enough. One can reach either by Rail to Vasco, Madgao or Tivim and by bus it is easy, if someone wish to enjoy the Bus, may come through Mapusa or from Panji Mapusa road Cross junction and the best way to reach is by Air to Vasco and later by local Bus or taxi. Like other parts of Goa at this place very organized vehicle rental services are available. Some one is coming to Goa at least this place must be visited for its beaches and the scenic views.

"Arambol beach, pleasant place"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Jan 7, 2016
Once known for its pure hippie gathering, I first had seen this beautiful beach in 2006. Amazingly clean and great water makes it ideal to relax. That time there were few stay options available. Every evening the hippies would play and dance to awesome music which was a pleasure to enjoy. I again visited Arambol few months back. Quite a few shacks have opened up and its no longer that off the route beach any more. There is a fresh water lake just beyond Arambol. A short but tough trek was the only way to reach it. Now a nice path along the beach has been made and you can enjoy a nice walk. The water is much dirtier now and dint feel like swimming. I would say Arambol has now lost the charm it once enjoyed.

"Serene, scenic & a superb beach"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Dec 18, 2015
Arambol is the perfect contrast to the noisy, crowded beaches of Goa like Baga, Calangute. The flat beaches, scenic views, uncrowded atmosphere makes it a stand alone memory in the otherwise pumped up trip to Goa. Also the beach is predominantly occupied with foreigners who have their own community activities and fun events happening all around. Must visit!

"Arambol, a Pet Vacation"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Dec 14, 2015
Our first out of state visit with Maura our 8 month old rottweiler. Although we have been visiting neighbouring cities from Mumbai to get maura used to the car and the long journeys this was a 1400+ kms to and fro journey to Goa. We started around 12 midnight via the Mumbai - Pune - kolhapur -nippani. Reached arambol around 11 am. I had booked us all in this place called rudra huts. The place is cosy and nice and amazingly pet friendly which was the first thing I looked for when booking and I was not disappointed. We were given an exceptional treatment by mayank and the other boys handling the place including maura who was taken care of as well. The best place was the proximity to the beach which was just a 100 mtr walk. The shacks 21 coconut and especially coco loco that we visited were also very comfortable having a dog around and the staff were friendly and playing with her. She was also served with a bowl of water and her dinner and lunch served to her on the beach. Maura also made a local friend who my wife named mel because she thought he was a brave heart to play with a rottie. All in all a very relaxing and a memorable trip. Our joy was in seeing our baby enjoy in the sand and enjoy the drive. I would recommend this trip for all pet parents.

"A place where beauty meets serenity"

  • 5.0/7
  • Posted Dec 13, 2015
Well Goa definitely has its own perks. Places like Baga are too crowded by Indian population, if you need to find peace and tranquillity then this is the place to be. Not much of a crowd gathering and perfect place for recreational activities. The other places surrounding it is Vagator. You have a fort there where Dil Chahta Hai song was shot, remember?

"Excellent beach with great activities"

Blue watered and less crowded beach situated in North Goa. Adventure sport like paragliding is also available at reasonable prices. Night parties are too often at this place. I recommend it one of the best place to visit with friends while travelling to Goa.
