Activities & things to do: Beach Bath, Shopping, Explore sea foods etc.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Apprx. 200 km from kolkata. Best to visit by car. Take Diamond Harbour Road, then towards namkhana, cross the river by vessel and another 30 minutes drive to Bakkhali. Many good Hotels & Resorts are there for a comfortable stay. No warnings as such.

"Enjoyable Bakkhali" new review

Bakkhali Experience: As a short destination Bakkhali is no doubt ideal. A week-end trip to Bakkhali is really fantastic and one can relax at here at ease.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food is good sight-seeing very much exciting but there is no shopping facility.
Activities & things to do: Just relaxing, bathing in the sea and walking miles to enjoy scenic beauty.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Two days staying at Bakkhali is enough. From Kolkata via Namkhana one can reach the spot availing train or bus; crossing the river Hatania-Doania by road one has to arrive Bakkhali through Frezerganj. There is actually nothing to warn the public.

"Calm & quite sea beach"

Bakkhali Experience: Bakkhali is a very goods holiday destination for two days visit. It's calm & quite environment attracts every body.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Foods are good in Bakkhali. Specially Bengali foods are very good. In sea beach fried fish is very delicious. Here fises are fried in front of us. But any special food like chinease or continental is not good. For sight seeing one can go to Jambu Deep by motor boat in sea.Which is very thrilling. Freasureganj is a renound fishing harbour & has a good beach. Henry Island is also a good destination.
Activities & things to do: Nothin to do much except spending time in Bakkhali bech & local sight-seeing.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Communiation is not good to Bakkhali. Only one bus of WBSTC from Dharmatala is available but it takes long time. Train is available upto Namkhana. After Namkhana one river need to cross & after crossing the river again need to take a bus to Bakkhali

"A short trip to Bakkhali"

Bakkhali Experience: It is very nice place for weekend trip with family. Not far from the Kolkata and can easily go by your own car. Rooms are much cosy and well decorated. Outside park and food quality needs to be upgraded properly.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: We liked very much Henry Island which is one of attractive destination as well as good restaurant at Bakkhali.
Activities & things to do: Enjoy at sea beach and spend your leisure time with family.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: You can go by Bus, train and private car. Taking diamondharbur road from Joka, around 160 Km from Kolkata. Be careful about driving when you are taking your own car. Road are good but two ways. So many bus and trucks are driving carelessly.

Activities & things to do: No such other activities are there other than walking out side and taking taste of different uncommon food.

"Henry's Island"

Bakkhali Experience: This spot can be best described as the transition between Mangrove forest of Sundaban in the east and the long beach line of the west “Far from the madding crowd”, located in the south most tip of West Bengal Henry’s Island is a very serene and a beautiful beach with a picturesque landscape. This beach will always beckon you if you want to be lonely for a while.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Fish is abundant. They are extremely fresh and well cooked. Apart from that things are quite ordinary. Take a small tour to Jombudwip by motor boat which will take you to the estuary of the river. If you can make it in the very early morning it will be amazing. You can take the boat from Benfish harbor. Rest of the morning Frazergunge and Bakhali would be great idea.
Activities & things to do: You will be mesmerized by the golden light of sunrise and sunset in the backdrop of the mangrove trees. Don’t forget to visit the watch tower in the campus itself.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: You can get bus from Esplanade to Bakhali, but the best option is to catch a train from Sealdah to Namkhana directly. We took the 5am train. Please check with the ticket counter as the list is yet to be available in erai.in . Cross the Doania-Hatania Creek and hire a car to the Sundari lodge - West Bengal fisheries (You may book it from Bikash Bhavan saltlake). Sundari will be a better option than Mangrove as you have to travel 1 and half Km to the beach from the later. Do carry insect repellant as the surrounding is forest. The best season is winter. Insect are somewhat a threat there. Great tour for weekends.

"Pleasing but not upto the mark"

Bakkhali Experience: Bakkhali is a very beautiful place with sea beaches, wonderful scenery around the beach.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food is good and cheap near to Bakkhali Bus stand. There are many hotels.Jammu Deep is agood option by motor boats running over the Bay of Bengal.Mousumi island and Henry Island are the others which are a must-go.
Activities & things to do: First thing do not trust any local transport people as they can manipulate you with their words.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: I think by bus direct to Bakkhali is the best option than by train.

"Bakkhali (2 days at peace near kolkata)"

Bakkhali Experience: Bakkhali is a very nice and quite place.. Its a place where you can spend couple of days with frnds and family. 2 buses ply from esplanade every day at 7am and 8am resp. You must book the hotel before a trip. The same is applicable for the bus. Its a marathon journey .. Almost 5 hrs. The quality of food is poor. Its a place with lot of natural beauty all around. You can visit Jambu Deep and Henry Island from bakkhali. Always remember to reserve the van for both way. Balaka Lodge is a family hotel.. It is an under devoloped tourist destination.. and that's what makes it special.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: You can take a boat to Jambu Deep.. The journey is Thrilling.
Activities & things to do: Bath hours in the sea of Bakkhali..
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: There are no other activities.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: it is complete freedom in beach.....u can walk lazily watching star fishes.....jelly fishes.....or have a cup of tea from beach stalls & watch the beautiful sun set ....when we were returning hotel by VAN....we found fresh hilsa on sale at very cheap rate....so we purchased 2 hilsa 900 gm each......and the hotel cooks were so glad to fry it for us......
Activities & things to do: jammu dwip is must.....a nice boating experience watching mangroves....and birds.....henry s island ,an eco tourism resort .....with cottages available for stay ......is a place .....where u can rediscover urself....there is a beach in henry s island....which is unplugged yet.....on the way to beach.....its like a silent valley......only red crabs are moving slowly here and there
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: WBTDC tourist lodge is nearest to beach....other hotels are 5 mints walk .......sea is not visible from any hotel....balaka tourist lodge......is a nice looking hotel...with well decorated rooms....but less ventilated......plan for bakkhali in winter.....but not in long wk end holidays.....becoz hotels are few.....and its difficult to get rooms on spot.....

"Journey to Bakkhali"

Bakkhali Experience: If someone wants to get out of city crowd & get a feel of rural developed village, may give visit to Bakkhali/Faserganj. It fails to my expectation, as natural scenic/beautiful spot to visit. It may be good if somebody has not visited other sea beaches, like Puri, Goa... There is nothing to admire as such in Feserganj/Bakkali. I along with my family were dissappointed when reached the Bakkhali sea beach... It looked like a lake with a long strech of land appears above the water in low tide...
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: There is no good quality restaurant in Bakkhali/Faserganj. Site seeing is NOT at all worth visiting... If someone like to have sea ride for 45mins, may go to Jambu Dwip... Only thing which is worth purchasing is Khejur Gur of different variant with some originality... This is again only during the month of Dec/Jan...
Activities & things to do: It was boring to spent 2 days there...
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: The journey to reach Bakkhali is very tiring... We went to Diamond Harbour by train from Sealdah, from there had to take 2 transit(DH -> Naamkhana-> Bakkahali) in buses to reach Bakkhali. Only state buses crosses the channel at Naamkhali on the way to Bakkhali.. We took state bus from Bakkhali to Esplanade in return journey... It also a painful journey of 5-6hrs with multiple stops.. My experience says it is quite comfortable and worthful to catch Puri exp from Howrah and spent a couple of days in Puri instead..

"Great place to visit during weekends"

Bakkhali Experience: Bakkhali is 3 hrs drive from Kolkata (excluding the time to cross the river by big boat). You must watch the sunrise at beach & sunset at Henry island. And must go to Jammu Island. It is 45m-1hr journey from Bakkhali via boat. It is a clean & calm island. Lovely spot.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Stay at Hotel Deepak. You'll get a lot of options for food. Sight seeing is Henry Island and Jammu Island.
Activities & things to do: Just chill out in the beach and island.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: You can go by car. Or, bus services are available upto Bakkhali. By train you can reach upto Namkhana. Then you need to cross the river & you'll get something to reach Bakkhali..

"Close to nature in Henry Island"

Bakkhali Experience: Henry Island is not an island as the name suggests. It is a huge eco tourism spot under the west bengal state fisheries dept.It houses 2 hotels namely Sundari and mangrove. With on-the-waterfront AC bungalows, Watch towers, jungles and good food the place is good for a short 2-3 day trip away from the bustle of the town.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Shopping is worth not mentioning...Sight seeing is ok.with frazergunj fishing harbour, Bakkhali sea beach being the main attraction. This is more for the relaxing tourists rather than the hectic tourist
Activities & things to do: Activities will be fishing and lazing around the complex
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Take a State owned bus bus from esplanade , kolkata directly to Bakkhali.Get down at Ferryghat more before Bakkhali and then take a Van to Henry Island. Also one can take a train from sealdah to namkhana.Cross the river and take another bus to Bakkhali.

"Blissful Bakkhali"

Bakkhali Experience: Bakkhali is a quiet and tranquil hamlet on the fringes of the Bay of Bengal in south 24 Parganas, West Bengal. Though it is not a 'hot' destination yet, it provides for a rather cheap weekend getaway with friends /family. Frazergunj & Bakkhali both have a beach of their own, but Bakkhali is the better place to stay & hang out. Just relax away from the city very close to nature....don't expect too much more than this. There are hardly 15 decent hotels in Bakkhali & Frazergunj with AC & NAC rooms. Some of the better hotels are Deepak, Dolphin (expensive), WBTDC lodge, Hotel Bay View, Hotel Ananya & Balaka lodge. The WBTDC lodge is the only one close to the beach while Bay View and Balaka are relatively close. Deepak & Dolphin are in Frazergunj.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: FOOD: You can only get traditional Bengali food/thalis; dont opt for chinese or any other fancy items, they make an awful effort at fancy cuisine. So, stick to the plain Bengali thali which is relatively cheap (about Rs 40/thali) SIGHT SEEING: There are vey few places to 'see' really in Bakkhali. You must, though, visit Henry island & Jambu-dwip. Henry island has a watch tower which offers a vast wonderful & breathtaking view of the Sunderbans forests with the sea in the distance. Take at least 2 hours time to visit Henry's island. Jambudwip doesn't offer much by way of seeing but the 30 min boat ride to the island is pure fun. Start early in the morning to enjoy the ride on the crude boat.
Activities & things to do: Please don't look for shopping AT ALL; there's nothing to shop for. There's not much of activity that you can look forward to apart from visits from the two places above. You can enjoy the evenings on the beach or by taking a walk along the Bakkhali-Frasergunj beach. Its a wonderful experience.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: There are only two direct buses from Kolkata run by WBSTC from the Esplanade terminal; fare is about Rs 75/-. There are other buses from Kolkata to Namkhana where you have to cross a narrow but deep creek and then take buses from Namkhana to Bakkhali. Almost any time of the year is a good time to visit Bakkhali.
