Bongaigaon, created in 1989 from parts of the erstwhile Goalpara and Kokrajhar districts, is an administrative district of Assam. This district contains attractions ranging from temples and wildlife sanctuary to caves and lakes.
One of the prominent attractions of this region is Kakaijana Proposed Wildlife Sanctuary which is home to numerous species of animals and birds. Main attraction of this sanctuary is golden langurs that are extremely rare. Kachugaon Game Reserve is another wildlife park which has some of the rarest species of flora and fauna.
Lalmati-Duramari Ganesh Temple constitutes another sightseeing attraction of this place. Besides, tourists can also visit Bagheswari Temple and Bagheswari Hill, which houses two other temples, namely Baba Tarak Nath Temple and a Lord Shiva Temple. Other temples like Kalimandir near Swahid Bedi, Kalikarpat of Kakoijana Hill Range and Moharani Temple of Khagarpur can also be visited.
Travellers can also head towards Rock Cut Caves that are famous for the architecture that belongs to the Salasthambha period. Tamranga Lake, Jogighopa and Pancharatna can also be visited while exploring Bongaigaon.
